Your Enemy: A Profile

Your enemy is typically a male between the ages of 20 and 40 years. He has a poor education. He is disillusioned and in need of something to believe in. He has been taken in by those who claim to know the truth, and they are willing to share this truth with him. His new education includes all the books of Islam, not just the Koran. He is taught that Muhammed was the last great prophet, and that the words of Muhammed come directly from Allah. He will learn that paradise awaits those who die for Allah. He will be taught simple, yet effective ways to destroy facilities or kill infidels. He will be taught always that Allah hates Israel and the West. He will be taught that while Christians and Jews originally worshipped the One True God, they have been taught by heretics, and that they are forever damned. He will be taught that no life is precious but the life of a Muslim, and that only as far as it serves Allah. Once he has been convinced of all of these things, he will be sent to do "the bidding of Allah". Wherever it is, whatever the task, he believes that Allah has directly appointed him to do it. Whether it be an elementary school in Chechnia, or a junior high in New Jersey. He will set off a car bomb in Baghdad, or Los Angeles. He will stop at nothing. If he loses his life along the way, he understands that this is war, and losses lead to lessons learned. There will always be someone to replace him. It is the will of Allah.

So how do we fight this enemy? Well, I'll tell you.

We seek out and destroy the people and places from which they get their doctrine. We kill all those we can find that spread this diseased distortion of religion. We rededicate ourselves to the defense of our nation and her principles. We give up a little comfort in order to serve our nation, our way of life, and our best interests.
We actively participate in this war on our end.

Since the end of WWII, these people have been fighting this war. They have bombed and killed and kidnapped the West and Israel for the last fifty years. Yet still there are those who wish to reason with them.
Who can argue with the will of God?
We face an army of BELIEVERS. There is nothing more dangerous than a soldier who believes in his cause.

And therein lies Americas weakness.

"Under fire, US marines hand off battered Fallujah," by Scott Peterson for the Christian Science Monitor:

FALLUJAH, IRAQ - From Observation Post Blazer, marines view Fallujah through a thick sheet of bullet-proof glass - already tested with numerous impacts. Or they stare through night-vision goggles or a thermal imaging scope that can pick up the heat of a dog hundreds of yards away.
The marines still patrol key roads. The US military, which still travels boldly through town despite a surge in deadly sniper attacks and roadside bombs, is spending $200 million on 60-plus projects to rebuild the city, heavily damaged in fighting two years ago.
But with just 300 marines, the US military footprint is smaller in this Sunni stronghold of more than 300,000 than it has been in two years. As the marine presence shrinks and Iraqis take more control, Fallujah - once a template for counterinsurgency efforts in Iraq, where US forces have controlled all the variables - is likely again to set a standard for the rest of the country.
"A lot of us feel like we have our hands tied behind our back," says Cpl. Peter Mattice, of Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment. "In Fallujah, [insurgents] know our [rules of engagement] - they know when to stop, just before we engage."
[...]
"They say we are here to win the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people, but I just don't see that happening," says Corporal Mattice, of Gladwin, Mich. OP Blazer is perched on the northern edge of the city, looking due south down a main street known to the marines as Ethan, site of numerous roadside bombs.
[...]
Each precinct in Chicago or Detroit, makes 100 to 150 arrests per night per 300,000 people," says Major Kolomjec, a lawyer who notes that Fallujah's population is similar. "Here you take 12 to 40 people per day, and people are up in arms. You can't expect stability, when you are not even doing the same level of policing as Detroit."
Another source of frustration: Pursuit in mosques is forbidden without the presence of Iraqi Army units. Marines say some of Fallujah's 76 mosques are used to hide weaponry. Some broadcast messages such as, "God help us defeat the Americans."
"Many would ask: What other war would we allow the enemy to broadcast calls for our defeat, for the sake of cultural sensitivity?" says O'Neill.

I wonder if a snowmobile would work on scalded sand? Think of the fun you could have on your next summer vacation.

I'm not sure if you've seen this site before, but I found it to be both disturbing and amusing (in some parts).

I went to the website 21A. Now, I am not sure how they got that photograph of Vin Diesel holding the Moqtada al-Sadr sign in front of the burning american truck but I know I will NOT watch any of his movies again.
