We really, really need to secure our Southern Border. Venezuela is in South America, right? Venezuela's president (Hugo Chavez) and Iran's president (Mahmoud Ahmedinejad) are good buddies. They both hate the United States. They both deny the holocaust. They both advocate the ruination of our country and our way of life. Chavez has warned the US not to take military action against Iran. Are we all tracking so far?
Hypothetical scenario: Iran sends "Diplomatic Envoys" with special training in languages and explosives to Venezuela, and these guys disappear. They turn up in Pheonix, Arizona and detonate a dirty bomb (or even a regular one) and fade back into the illegal immigrant underground. They repeat this process in three or four places across the country.
Maybe this is a worst-case scenario. So? The Department of Homeland Security loves to spew these worst case scenarios at us all the time. They love to preach that duct tape and bisquine will keep out mustard gas (it won't), but no one wants to talk about real security issues. Our jobs are being taken, our social services are being stolen, and now a very real threat to our way of life exists and still the Democrats and Republicans alike want to ignore the Border Security Issue. Why? Is there money in it? Is it some left-wing bleeding-heart humanitarian cause?
We sent a bunch of National Guardsmen down to the border to do very little. They have been probed, and now the State of Arizona is putting together a commitee to investigate whether or not the National Guard can do more...it could take years for a decision, and even then the Federal government has to make their decision.
What kind of sense does this make? Are we all blind? We have got to militarize our Southern Border. We must do so in order to prevent criminals with guns and drugs from coming into our country. We must do so in order to prevent another deadly terrorist attack on US soil. We must do so in order to preserve our way of life.
If you can't think of anything to say about this to your congressman, e-mail him/her this blog and tell them you agree with me. Do something. Say something. Don't just sit there.

Can't the governors of border states send the National Guard to the problem area? Who commands the Guard of each state? I thought the governor could call them up in emergencies. Armed invasion sounds like an emergency to me. What's wrong with our government and why won't they do something besides talk?
For one thing, it gets pretty expensive to keep National Guardsmen on active duty for any amount of time. For another, there are issues about the border with Mexico being a federal jurisdiction or some such nonsense.
Bush will not put the military on the border for two reasons, one, that will openly admit that he and alot of others were wrong about the border issue not being as bad as they preached, and two, it will strain the military to much, and prove to the nation he was wrong about troop levels being too low. Double wammy on his part. He'll never do it.
Hi bulldog23,
I agree with your post, the powers that be are not only ignoring the threat, they are planning on making it easier for those who pose a threat.
What are your views on the Trans Texas Corridor?
oh my goodness, guys...you're insinuating that Bush isn't a good decider, and we ALL know that's not true.
hey...if our BORDER'S weren't secure, then that'd mean we were really big idiots to initiate a false war in Iraq 4 years ago. Blasphemy!
Plus...keeping troops here, to protect our domestic integrity would mean no troops to die in Iraq. Who's blood will be spilled in that case?
I hate to think that pride will cause our downfall...wait, that rings a bell...
The Trans Texas Corridor is new to me, but after researching a bit, I have to say that I am definately against it. I'll have a post on the matter ready next week...
Ms. Epps, it is an honor. As for Bush being a good decider, well noone claimed he made good decisions. I believe that he might be one of the only people in DC willing to make a decision, but that's not a real good defense...
The problem is Corporate America. There is just too much money being made from NAFTA and CAFTA, and leaving our border open is an act of appeasement on our part. It seems we can't be offensive to Mexico or Central America now, or they might tell their citizens how much they could be getting paid to do that manufacturing job. Heads up dumbasses! Uncle Javier already called home and told'em.
Simple solution:
1) Fifteen ft. fortified wall w/armed turrets every 1 1/2 mile.
2) Strategically placed G.Dockins clones every 5 miles or so. (keep in mind, these clones will be genetically bred to be stronger, run faster, jump higher...etc). They will also possess higher than average intelligence & retractable laser claws.
3) Apply pressure on companies benefiting from illegal immigration, by using Spec Ops units to tactically sabotage their assets.
4) Round up thirty or forty of your closet friends, don white bed sheets, and commence the beating of all local illegal immigrants. The beauty of this forth step is that we can blame it on the constituents of Bill James.
