I was at a gas station last night, buying a pack of cigarettes, when a woman in her mid-forties came in with her teenage son and daughter. All three were high as a kite on crystal meth. The mom was bumping her gums ninety to nothing, and the two kids were so paranoid that they actually got tears in their eyes when I stared at them. The cashier made joke about "quality family time" to the woman (I guess he knew them) and they all relaxed and started making little jokes about late nights and not eating breakfast.
I don't know what to do or think about this stuff. Crystal meth is so easy to manufacture and distribute that there may not be a solution.
Are stiff prison sentences the answer? Is stronger drug education the answer?

it wouldnt matter if we did put a harsher penalty on it, they would still pleade guilty and take a deal to do a couple months in the pen, a few more in rehab, then its back on the street, same old shit. my solution, no more plea bargains for repeats. that comes with all new horrors though.
heres a solution: tell the cops to do the job they get paid to do instead of "looking for the big fish" all the time. Throw there asses in jail and burn there house down take the kids from them so they never see them again. Sell the cars that they have at public auction. Give them nothing to look to the future about and let them know we will be watching when they get out of the hole.
How longs it been since you read about a "meth lab" being busted? Quite some time, and its simply that the "cops" dont care about the local meth makers, they want that "ice" that comes out of mexico so they can brag about getting the good stuff.
So do you think that the police are at fault? I disagree. I think that you don't like cops, so you find it easy to blame them for problems that are too large for them to control. I think that the Meth problem will continue to grow until we drive the tweekers back underground. One way that I try to do this is by making fun of how crappy and trashed that they look when I see them in public. The only reason that I didn't comment the other night was that I was so appalled by the mother's behavior.
Maybe we need to see more pictures of "meth mouth" to discourage people form starting. Then keep throwing users and dealers in jail.
