I listened to talk radio again today (because I’m a dork), and people kept talking about how GW didn’t say enough about Iraq or the war on terror.
Good job, GW, you finally fooled some folks!
You see, all the talk about alternate fuel sources is really about Islam. We get about 11% of our oil from the Middle East. Europe gets a little more than that. If we can cut 20-30% of our oil consumption, we can break the Middle East. If they are broke, they cannot support Al Qaida (or however you spell it), Hamas, Hezbollah, or any other terrorist organizations.
You see, its not about hugging trees anymore. Subtleties aside, it is now your patriotic duty to use less gas. I know that coming from me, that reads a little sarcastic, but I mean it. Maybe we can’t get our heads around global warming, but we can get behind a plan to destroy our enemies, especially with little or no loss of American life.
So now we really are committing to a long-term goal. The new plan is to break the Middle East over the next fifty years. If it creates new jobs in America, and we actually commit to it, I’m for it.
As for Iraq, we still need to go for a military win. The whole economic strategy sounds good, but Hajis will only respect strength (if that). It wouldn’t hurt to drop a few dozen bombs on Iran, either.
I just keep getting the idea that people still don’t understand how big the problem with Islam is getting. Do you see the Terror Counter to your right? Click on it and scroll all the way down the first page until you get to the list of cities and countries that are having problems with radical Islam. These people are taking over wherever they can.
I know that GW isn’t the best that we have ever had. I certainly didn’t expect to ever be a fan. I just want to point out that he really is trying to get us to commit to long-term projects that will, over time, protect us from our enemies (some of them, anyway). I admire this.

it only took six years, but he seems to want to commit to the long term plan. it will only work if americans can do it though. and if i know americans, none of them want an answer 50 years from now. its next year or never. we forget too fast. we would have to be reminded ever so often. aparently, some of us dont even give a damn about securing the borders well enough to keep drug dealers and terrorists from running across and forcing national guardsmen to flee for their lives because they are unarmed. alot of good that does, eh? im all for hitting haji where it hurts, but we need to take care of the problems at home too. he still talking about amnesty?
Uhh, remember Japan? The most successful occupation of the modern world. A page out of the book of the Romans. We are still there, hell we provide for there defense. America didn't bitch and moan about that. My philosiphy is that America just doesn't like being lied to. If its gonna take 20yrs tell us thats the plan. Don't lie and say it will take 2. If you tell us it is gonna take 2, yes, we will expect it done in 2. I think the 50 yr estimate is probably quite accurate. Muslims are much less civilized than the Japaneese. We are going to have to grind the american way into each and every one of their children's heads and wait. Thats the only way to make it change. Thats sort of what we did in Japan, with a little help from Big boy and company. I think most americans can delay their gratification long enough for the right reasons. We just need a president who can sell the american people on the idea and GW ain't it. Oh yeah, we did a pretty good job with Germany as well. I understand this is a different kind of war, but besides the fighting, everything else can be done the same....education, education, education. The more educated a person is, the less likely that person will be violent. Check it out.
